Taylor MacLellan Cochrane traces its roots in the Annapolis Valley to 1835 when the founding Partners opened the first law office in the Kings County Shire Town of Kentville. A. We are currently seeking an experienced property paralegal to join our Kentville office. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to work in a collegial environment with a busy and respected real estate team.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive paralegal support to lawyers practising in residential and commercial real estate. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage files independently from opening to closing.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing residential and commercial real estate files from intake to completion
• Preparing conveyancing documents, deeds, mortgages, and related instruments
• Liaising with clients, financial institutions, municipal offices, and land registration offices
• Handling closings, trust accounting matters, and post-closing reporting
• Maintaining accurate and organized electronic and paper files
• Supporting lawyers with general real estate-related matters as required

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a property or real estate paralegal (Nova Scotia experience strongly preferred)
• Strong knowledge of Nova Scotia land registration and conveyancing procedures
• Proficiency with document management systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently, handle high file volumes and manage tight deadlines
• Professional, client-focused, and detail-oriented approach

B.  We are currently seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to join our Foreclosure Team at our Kentville location.

Responsibilities
The Legal Assistant will provide assistance/support to team paralegals and lawyers. This will include drafting correspondence/documents with accuracy and timely completion using document assembly software, filings with the Court. File management of confidential information, updating lawyers’ schedules, interacting with and meeting clients in a professional manner.

Qualifications
Experience with law office procedures and paralegal diploma, Cosmolex, Word Perfect, Hot Docs, Microsoft Office and other software would be an asset. This position will require the ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are critical along with excellent communication skills. Experience desirable but not essential. Training will be provided for the right candidate.

C.  We are seeking a full-time Legal/Office Assistant to join our Kentville location.

Responsibilities
The Legal Assistant provides assistance/support to team paralegals and lawyers. Client interaction (taking cold calls as receptionist, completing intake questionnaires, scheduling meetings, updating lawyer’s calendars and meeting rooms, etc.); Court interaction (preparing and filing packages, diarizing, correspondence, etc.); Administrative (running conflict checks, opening matters, saving incoming and outgoing email, file organization, copying documents, sending reminders and other correspondence, etc.).

Qualifications
Experience with law office procedures and paralegal diploma, Cosmolex, Word Perfect, Hot Docs, Microsoft Office and other software would be an asset. This position will require the ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are critical along with excellent communication skills. Flexible and adapt easily to change. Experience desirable but not essential. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
